Steam Humidifiers

Some humidifiers throw water vapor just the way a kettle produces steam. It disperses hot steam into the room. These are steam humidifiers. Steam units are designed as either tabletop or hanging models for spraying steam into the room. A forced air hitting duct work within the dispersion tube. Except for the tabletop variety, tap water can be piped directly inside the steam-producing unit. Therefore, it does not demand manual filling. Since steam is simply evaporated water and it does not contain mineral deposits or bacteria it is safe to breathe the air.

Steam humidifiers give precise humidity control without the expense of replacements. New models of steam humidifiers have built in computer chips to ensure maximum efficiency and safety. Steam humidifiers posses an integral heating element. This element does not depend on burn cycles of the heat furnace. Steam humidifiers are best suited in climates where there are mild winters or where maximum humidity is needed. They are particularly useful for critical function where one needs precise control of the humidity control is needed, for example, in homes with costly wooden floors, musical instruments, cabinetry, old antique wood furniture, and other valuables that are sensitive to level of humidity.

The most important aspect of using these steam humidifiers is its proper maitenance. One has to change the filter regularly. There are ones that come with indicators, which help track down the time that is needed to change the filter. New models use two-stage water filtration to remove the chlorine deposits, particulates, and other dissolved solids from water before it passes through the unit. This added unit is designed to prevent residue buildups in the reservoir and on the heating elements to reduce the failure of the heating elements. A built in overflow, cut off switch for low water, and cutoff switch for thermal protection are the safety features one should be aware of when going for the selection of steam humidifiers.

People should always give priority in easy installation and safety measures when opting to buy a steam humidifier. Apart from all the safety measure discussed above one should make it a point to know all the latest features available in various models of the steam humidifiers to ensure utmost safety of the house. A compact size allows easy installation of the machine and helps utilize lesser space. The ductwork systems, which are manufactured both for commercial and residential application, can be custom designed to output any amount of steam a house may need. This humidifier however is a bit expensive for whole house application. For the use in a household where the utility is at a minimum, expensive ones shouldn't be opted for. But households or galleries which needs to protect its rich belongings and antiques and needs to keep the environment totally free from drying out, a good steam humidifier is a must.
